A Career of Teaching, Coaching, and Community Leadership
With a career spanning 44 years in education, Larry Bagley has dedicated his life to guiding Louisiana’s young people as a teacher, coach, and administrator. A lifelong resident of DeSoto Parish, his community leadership extended beyond the classroom and the gymnasium.
He served as President of both the DeSoto Parish Teachers Association and the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches, championing his fellow educators. This extensive experience in schools shaped his core philosophy that being available and willing to talk is the most effective way to resolve any situation—a principle that has guided him from his time as an assistant principal to his work in public service.Beyond the classroom, Bagley’s roots are firmly planted in his family’s business as the manager and co-owner of Bagley Farms in Longstreet. The farm, which once operated as a dairy and beef farm, now focuses on oil, gas, and timber production. Growing up on the farm instilled in him the foundational values of hard work, accountability, and the sanctity of life—lessons he has applied throughout his career. After retiring from education, Bagley continued his commitment to his community by serving two terms on the Logansport City Council before his election to the Louisiana House of Representatives.
Since taking office in 2015, Representative Larry Bagley has proven himself as one of North Louisiana’s most effective conservative leaders. Now in his final term, Bagley’s decade of service reflects his unwavering commitment to delivering real results for District 7’s working families while championing the conservative principles that protect individual freedoms and promote economic growth. Bagley’s legislative record demonstrates his ability to bring tangible solutions home to North Louisiana. He successfully secured major infrastructure victories including the completion of Highway 3276 and Highway 5, along with instrumental leadership in allocating $100 million from Louisiana’s Deepwater Horizon settlement toward Shreveport’s I-49 Inner-City Connector project. His efforts secured $1 million for each Economic District statewide, creating competitive advantages for attracting businesses and jobs to the region.
10 Years of Conservative Leadership Delivering for North Louisiana
As Chairman of the House Health and Welfare Committee, Bagley has delivered critical wins for rural healthcare, securing additional funding for hospitals in DeSoto and Sabine Parishes while protecting essential services for families and seniors. His conservative leadership has earned recognition through awards including Top Advocate for North Louisiana Economic Development and Most Valuable Policyholder Legislator, while maintaining strong pro-business growth voting records that reflect his constituents’ values.
